    Summer Concert in the Park: 1976

    Join the Barrington Park District at Citizens Park for their FREE Concerts in the Park Series, presented by BMO Harris Bank. Concerts are held in the Amphitheater (Pavilion in inclement weather). All concerts feature live music and FREE popcorn compliments of BMO Harris Bank.

    About the Band:
    The band 1976 revisits all the great rockin’ music from that era and takes you along for the ride. These six outstanding musicians authentically recreate all your favorites by bands & musicians like Fleetwood Mac, Peter Frampton, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Heart, Boston, Steve Miller, Bad Company, Pat Benatar, The Cars, Elton John, and so many other rock bands from the 70’s. Featuring male & female vocals, two outstanding guitarists and a blistering rhythm section, they’re a perfect fit for corporate events, clubs, fests and concerts of all types. Let 1976 take you back to the decade that changed rock music forever.

    Stop by to see us at Barrington’s National Night Out to learn more about BStrong Together and enjoy a wonderful night out in the community.

    The Barrington Police and Fire Departments host this fun, exciting, and educational night out for the entire family, which will be held on August 9th during the regular Cruise Night evening in the Harris Bank Parking Lot at Cook & Station Streets.

    Kids can see (and climb into!) police and fire vehicles, receive a bike and helmet safety check, as well as digital fin­gerprinting and ID kits. Family games include a bingo and hula hoop contest, trackless train rides, face painting, and a watermelon eating contest.

    National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention aware­ness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen neigh­borhood spirit and community relations.

    Kite-Fest at the Chicago Botanic Garden

    Look up! High-flying fun awaits at the Kite Festival on August 11 & 12. Bring your own kite to fly, then watch a soaring stunt-kite performance set to music at this free event.

    The Kite Festival will take place in the meadow west of Evening Island. Visitors can walk there or take the free tram. Ice cream treats, beverages, and many lunch options will be available for purchase on-site.

    Kite-Flying Performances

    Enjoy soaring stunt-kite performances set to music by members of the Chicago Fire Kite Team and members of the Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois.

    Butterflies on the Prairie

    Citizens for Conservation is offering one more class that allows Barrington-area students the chance to spend some time outdoors before school starts again.

    CFC will offer “Butterflies on the Prairie” on Saturday, August 11 from 1-3 p.m. The program will offer kids ages 6-14 the chance to take a walk at Flint Creek Savanna to find butterflies and caterpillars and get up-close looks at monarchs in CFC’s butterfly tent.
